Safety and Emergency Process

A.

Inclement Weather Conditions

Please stay tuned to local radio and TV stations for the latest information on school closings and delays. We follow Dade County Public Schools. If it becomes necessary to close schools for the day or begin later than the normal opening time, major news media in the area will be notified early enough to carry the news no later than 6 a.m.

B.

Critical Emergency: Total School Lockdown/Relocation

In the event of an extreme emergency at a school site, we request that parents tune in to local media outlets (TV, radio), for information regarding how to reunite with their child/children. We request you follow the directions as given through the media. Do not go to the effected school. Your presence would hinder or delay the emergency response plan in process. Please abide by the directions given to you through the media outlets.

C.

Safety & Emergency Procedure

Safety is the top priority for Masters Preparatory. Our mission is to assure that the campus is the safest learning and working environment possible for our students, visitors and staff.

D.

Fire/Drill Procedures

During fire drills, pupils are to leave the building quickly in an orderly manner and report to a designated place outside, remaining in a class group until the signal to return to the building is sounded. The teacher in charge of the class at the time of the alarm will remain in charge of the same group until the drill is concluded. Fire drills are conducted monthly.

E.

Immunizations and medical examinations

Florida state law requires a students to have a complete physical, and tuberculin skin test with results indicated (HRS form 3040). Also required is a certificate of immunization form (HRS 680).

F.

Medication

School personnel are allowed to administer only prescribed medication. Before any medication can be administered an authorization form must be filled out, signed by physician and parent, and be on file in the school office. Pupils are not permitted to bring and/or keep medicines of any kind in the classroom.

G.

Injury

Procedures followed to aid injured children:
•  Teachers will send the child to the office if the injury is minor.
•  Teachers will notify the office if the child should not be moved.
•  Office personnel will notify a parent and describe the injury. For a minor injury the parent will make the decision about ...removing the child from school. Emergency contacts will be called if we are unable to reach a parent.
•  Emergency Rescue will be called for injuries requiring emergency first aid, which cannot be administered by school ...personnel.
..An accident report will be completed and filed in every incident.

H.

Illness

We emphasize the importance of regular attendance, but children should not be sent to school when they are ill. Pupils with communicable diseases must not attend school. If a child becomes ill enough to go home during the school day the parent will be notified by school personnel. It is important that we have your correct phone number and also names and phone numbers for emergency contact. This information is requested at the time of registration and should be kept up to date. Our limited facilities make it impossible to keep children in the clinic for extended periods of time. No medication will be given without proper authorization on file in the school office.

I.

Exclusions from School for Disease
