Monthly Newsletter

Each month, a parent newsletter is sent home with your child. This publication includes school news, a monthly calendar outlining projects, special events, and meetings for your participation and/or information. Please look for it at the beginning of each month.

C.

Procedures for Checking Out

No student is to be taken out of school without clearance. Only the parent, legal guardian, or other persons previously designated by the parent or legal guardian may check a student out of school. All parties must comply with the school's policies and practices for preventing unauthorized removal of students from school. The student's safety may well depend upon strict observance of these policies .

D.

Transfer/Withdrawal from school

The school shall be notified Three days in advance before a student is withdrawn. To avoid interruption of the teacher's day, a student shall be withdrawn at the end of the school day. No student will be considered officially withdrawn unless released by the principal's office.

Parents must sign a Release of records permission form to permit the office to send the child's cumulative records or transcripts to another school. Records will be processed and forwarded as quickly as possible to the new school.

E.

School Telephone

The school is equipped with a business telephone to help transact the business of the school and our lines must be kept open for this purpose. Children may not use the telephone except for emergencies. It is most difficult for us to accept messages for individual children without interruption of the instructional program. We will appreciate your cooperation in not asking us to deliver a message to an individual child EXCEPT IN AN EMERGENCY.

F.

Personal Property

Teachers will inform parents about necessary school supplies. Only with the teacher's permission should a student bring personal toys, books, sport equipment, or pets to school. Items interfering with instruction will be removed and returned to parents. Valuable items (jewelry, cameras, clothing, etc.) should not be brought to school. The staff cannot be responsible for the safekeeping of such items. Money, except for lunch, should be for items sold by P.T.A. only. ìSpending moneyî should not be brought to school. Lunch items are not to be sold or swapped among children. All personal property should have child's name in ink. We will be happy to return lost articles that can be identified when found. Please check office ìLost and Foundî to recover belongings .

Emergency Contact Information

If you move or if your telephone number is changed, please notify the school office so that pupil records may be kept accurate and up-to-date. It is important to advise the school if the name and number given for the emergency contact is changed. In the event neither the parent nor the emergency contact person can be reached during an emergency, Miami-Dade County Rescue Department or the doctor whose name appears on the registration card will be called. Only persons whose names appear on the emergency contact will be permitted to pick up a child from school-identification will be required. Please be sure to include the names of any persons you anticipate may pick up your child in an emergency situation.

H.

Visitors To School

For the safety and protection of all students, visitors must always obtain a pass from the office before proceeding to a classroom. This includes parents. Parents are not permitted to go to their child's class unannounced during school hours. No child will be permitted to leave the building with a visitor (including parents) unless a release has been signed in the office. Please do not just drop in to see your child's teacher. When this becomes a regular practice, the instructional program is continually disrupted. It becomes difficult for a teacher to remain organized and keep control of a classroom of students even when his/her attention is removed for a few minutes. We appreciate your cooperation in providing a safe learning environment for our children.
